The Arduino UNO R4 WiFi Development Board is the groundbreaking fourth revision of the Arduino UNO, after the decade long reign of the UNO R3. Time flies, but the Arduino UNO has always been a go-to board for hobbyists learning the wonders of electronics and professional engineers prototyping their innovative products. With a 32-bit processor, the Arduino UNO R4 reinvents the entire range, seamlessly handling complex projects with ease.

The major difference between the UNO R4 WiFi Board and the UNO R3 is the Arm Cortex-M4 processor and enhanced memory. The UNO R4 runs at a clock speed of 48MHz, three times faster than the UNO R3.  The boost allows the board to carry even more SRAM and flash memory. This Arduino board also hosts a bucketload of new features and connectors for your projects. These changes have made the board more both more powerful and accessible, making it a good successor to the standard version of the Arduino UNO.

The Arduino UNO R4 WiFi vs the UNO R3

Both versions of the Arduino UNO board form the backbone of the Arduino ecosystem, springboarding one of the largest communities with open online resources for all Makers. The UNO R4 retains the standard UNO form factor, pinouts, and 5V operating voltage that ensures its compatibility with the many existing shields and accessories we love for Arduino projects. Of course, this new version has incredible enhanced and new features that we simply must discuss.

  • WiFi and Bluetooth Connectivity – An ESP32-S3 module is included with this Arduino UNO R4, enabling wireless connectivity and remote monitoring and control via the Arduino IoT Cloud.
  • 32-Bit Microprocessor – The Arm Cortex-M4 processor significantly boosts the clock speed of the UNO R4 to 48MHz, providing three times faster processing than the UNO R3.
  • Expanded Memory – The increased memory capacity holds 32KB SRAM and 256KB flash memory, greatly broadening the scope of your projects.
  • 24V Input Voltage – The UNO R4 WiFi supports a wider input voltage range, allowing seamless integration with motors, LED strips, and other actuators using a single power source.
  • Onboard 12x8 LED Matric – An incorporated bright 12x8 red LED matrix is ideal for creative projects with animations or sensor data visualization.
  • Extra Peripherals & Connectors – The UNO R4 also sports additional peripherals, including a 12-bit DAC, CAN BUS, and OP AMP. A QWIIC connector and HID support adds to the ease of access, allowing you to tap into the QWIIC ecosystem and connect a mouse and keyboard via USB.

Upgrade your prototyping experience with the Arduino UNO R4 WiFi Development Board and unlock new possibilities in precision, performance, and connectivity. With its powerful design and innovative features, the UNO R4 is the perfect choice for beginners and experienced electronics enthusiasts alike to bring their projects to life.

When it comes to building unique electronics projects, there are few better ways to do it than with Arduino. Founded with the intent to make electronics prototyping accessible to all, regardless of age, culture, sex or any other factors, Arduino is one of the world’s leading designers and manufacturers of open-source hardware and software.

Some of the leading microcontroller boards that Arduino has produced include the classic Arduino UNO, as well as many variations with different specialisations and specifications. Some of the most popular Arduino boards – which we stock of course – are the Arduino Mega, Leonardo, Due, Micro, Nano, Mini, as well as the unique Arduino LilyPad. And with these boards at hand, as well as a Shield or two, you can craft thousands of different projects, with each one being tailored to your specific needs, wants and personal tastes.
